A special message:
There was something about seeing the name Twentynine Palms on the highways sign. There was a story there and I knew I was going to tell it. Sitting at Starbucks a week or so later after returning to the cold and gray of Seattle I started working on the outline. Looking back, the pieces fell together rather quickly and the more I wrote the more excited I got. Here was the story and the characters I have been wanting to see in a gay film.
Being a gay man and enjoying film as I do, I have enjoyed and become more interested in gay cinema. However, over the years, I have become steadily disappointed as the stories didn’t grow in accordance with the coming of acceptance of equal rights in our country. Over and over there were stories of coming out and dealing with coming out to family and friends or even to boyfriends. Was there a point, as there was in my life, where we didn’t have to explain why someone was gay? They just were and the people in their lives knew it and accepted it. I was never foolish to think it was some utopian world, but I was still meeting guys and we weren’t having long discussions about being gay. We all had regular everyday lives to deal with.
Now we are working to bring this unique and exciting story to a screen near you and could use the support of talented movie lovers like you. No project like this could be done by one individual. It requires a team in front and behind the camera, with people giving support any way they can. We want you to be a part of the 29 Palms team, so please consider contributing any amount you can.
I am so excited to have brought this project this far and it has been with the help of talented friends that believe in 29 Palms. Please follow our project to learn of updates. Encourage your friends to support us just as you have through social media or word of mouth! Together we will create something exciting and entertaining.
